Charter Resources Video Document Community Workshop (Multi Vehicle Collision)
Event Registration

Registration begins March 19, 2012

The purpose of the 2012 Community Workshop is to build relationships and identify strategies to improve community disaster preparedness. This year, the scenario will involve a multi-vehicle collision caused by storm winds and human error. The objectives for the Community Workshop were derived from the 2011 Community Workshop recommendations and the priorities of the Arizona Department of Health Services Bureau of Public Health Emergency Preparedness, the Coyote Crisis Collaborative's co-host on the event.

Designed for corporate, municipal, pre-hospital, hospital, healthcare, behavioral health, education, tribal, military, functional needs, and volunteer sectors of the community, Day 1 of the Community Workshop will focus on:

  • Emergency warning and business communications.
  • Functional needs population transportation and evacuation needs, gaps, and templates.
  • Resources to address behavioral health issues in the workplace and disasters.
  • Local family reunification strategies.
  • A corporate best practice for evacuation of functional needs populations.

Designed specifically for healthcare, behavioral health, military, and pre-hospital sectors as well as schools and associations associated with these, Day 2 will target:

  • Healthcare capabilities and limitations.
  • Legal ramifications/liabilities pertaining to use of health volunteers.
  • Hospital trigger points to ask for surge support and federal medical assistance.
  • Functional need population evacuation concerns and training opportunities.
  • Joplin Lessons learned.

Both days are limited to 200 participants. However, participants may attend one or both days of the Community Workshop. Other than municipalities all participants are asked to restrict the number of individuals to two per facility or region to permit the greatest diversity possible in the break-out groups for each community. The Collaborative is pursuing continuing education credit approval for participants.

The Community Workshop will be held at the Desert Willows Conference Center at 4340 E Cotton Center Boulevard in Phoenix, AZ 85040. Ample parking is available around the complex. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Registration and breakfast begins at 7:00AM, and the program will start promptly at 8:00AM. The program is scheduled to finish at 5:00PM.

In the event accommodations are needed for hearing or sight-impaired attendees, please contact Deborah Roepke by March 30, 2012 at 480.861.5722.
